Former Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, on Monday, assumed office as the new CP of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command; vowing zero tolerance for crimes and criminalities in Nigeria’s capital city.
Disu, who is the 32nd CP of the FCT police command, during his maiden press briefing, expressed readiness to continue from where his predecessor, Assistant Inspector General Bennett Igweh left-off concerning tackling security challenges in the territory.
He sounded a note of warning to elements who may want to pepertuate crimes in the FCT, assuring that the security of lives and properties will not be compromised.
Mr Disu vowed to enhance community policing initiatives in the FCT, and strengthen the intelligence gathering capabilities of the police command.

Officers of the FCT Police Command, esteemed members of the press, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
It is both an honor and a privilege to stand before you today as the new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for entrusting me with this critical responsibility.
As I assume this role, I am acutely aware of the security challenges facing the FCT and the foundational work laid by my predecessors to maintain relative peace. I am committed to building upon this groundwork and enhancing our efforts to significantly improve the security situation in our territory.
To those who seek to disrupt the tranquility of the FCT, I send a clear and resolute message: my tenure will be marked by a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of crime and criminality. We will not waver in our commitment to safeguarding our community, ensuring that law enforcement is both effective and respectful of the rights of all citizens.
I also aim to strengthen our partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and other stakeholders. Together, we will foster trust and collaborate on innovative strategies to address the security concerns that affect our residents. Your insights and feedback will be invaluable as we navigate these challenges together, and we will actively encourage feedback from members of the public to refine our approach.
In addition, we will prioritize the following key areas:
1. Community Policing: We will enhance our community policing initiatives to ensure that our officers are more visible and accessible, fostering a sense of safety and trust among residents.
2. Intelligence Gathering: Strengthening our intelligence-gathering capabilities will be crucial in preemptively addressing potential threats and criminal activities.
3. Technology Integration: We will leverage modern technology to aid our policing efforts, utilizing tools such as data analytics and surveillance systems to enhance our operational efficiency and response times.
4. Training and Development: Continuous training for our officers will be emphasized to ensure they are equipped with the latest techniques and knowledge in modern policing.
5. Public Engagement: We will actively engage the public through town hall meetings and outreach programs to create a stronger bond between the police and the community.

CP Disu’s Professional Profile and Qualifications
CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, popularly known as Tunji Disu was born on 13 April, 1966. He is from Lagos state. The CP attended the Lagos State University in 1990 where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English Education. In the year 2000, his quest for educational advancement earned him a Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies from the same Lagos State University.
He went on to acquire a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the celebrated Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba, Ondo state. He further extended his academic pursuit by acquiring a Master’s degree in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology from the Lagos state University in 2022.
CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu got appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on the 18th of May 1992 and had his training at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano state.
JOB EXPERIENCE
The CP has served in the Nigeria Police Force in many capacities such as;
1. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Owo, Ondo state Police Command.
2. The Divisional Police Officer, Ikare, Ondo state Police Command.
3. The Officer in Charge, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Rivers state Police Command
4. Officer in Charge Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ondo state Police Command.
5. Officer in Charge Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Oyo state Police Command.
6. The CP was one time Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to a former Governor of Lagos State.
7. The CP was once the Officer in Charge, Anti-Fraud Unit, SCID, Katsina State Police Command.
8. He once served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigations Department, Rivers state Police Command.
9. He has served as the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos state Police Command.
10. TPhe CP was at one time Commander of the IGPs Intelligence Response Team (IRT) FHQ Abuja.
11. He was once (DCP) Admin, department of Operations, FHQ, Abuja.
12. The Commissioner of Police was once (CP) Admin, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) FHQ.
13. He was at one time the Officer in Charge of Training, Nigeria Police Peace Keeping Department where he led the first ever Nigerian Police Contingents on an African Union Mission to quell the crisis in Dafur Sudan.
14. He was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the present Inspector General of Police before his posting to as the Commissioner of Police Rivers State Police Command.
15. And he is currently the 32nd Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command.
