A source at the Nigerian-Benin Republic border confirmed the incident to The Metro Newspaper, stating, “Bobrisky has been returned to Lagos right now.” The source further explained that Bobrisky was arrested around midnight and detained until the next morning. He was then transferred to the Lagos office of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Ikeja.

Reports indicate that Bobrisky was attempting to leave Nigeria unnoticed when he was caught. “He handed his passport to someone to stamp for him, but the officer saw his name and immediately flagged it. The officer requested that Bobrisky come down from the vehicle for further questioning,” the source added.

Efforts to reach Kenneth Udo, the spokesperson for the NIS, were unsuccessful, as phone calls and text messages sent by The Metro on Monday went unanswered.

The exact reason for Bobrisky’s arrest remains unclear. However, the crossdresser has been entangled in an ongoing investigation involving the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Nigerian Correctional Service. These bodies are investigating allegations of bribery.

The controversy began when social media influencer Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid N15 million to EFCC officials to have money laundering charges against him dropped. Bobrisky has consistently denied being the voice in the recording.

The individual in the audio also claimed that Bobrisky avoided serving a six-month prison sentence for naira abuse in Kirikiri prison due to the influence of a powerful figure. Following these revelations, both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan were summoned by the House of Representatives for questioning, but Bobrisky failed to appear before the panel.

Bobrisky’s arrest at the Seme border adds another layer to the unfolding investigation.
