Operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 44 suspected internet fraudsters in Ilorin, Kwara State. The arrests took place on Friday, September 6, 2024, at various locations across the city, including Sango, Kulende, Taxaco, and Harmony Estate.

According to the EFCC, the arrests were made following credible intelligence reports on the suspects’ alleged involvement in internet-related offenses. The Commission, known for its crackdown on financial crimes, stated that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime and protect the country’s digital space.

During the operation, several items were recovered from the suspects, including six different brands of exotic cars, laptops, smartphones, and charms, which are commonly believed to be used by fraudsters in their illicit activities.

The EFCC has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of these investigations. The agency reiterated its commitment to ensuring that individuals involved in fraudulent activities are brought to justice.
