The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been restored following a brief suspension. The suspension, initially rumored to be due to a hacking incident, was actually triggered by routine updates to the account’s settings, such as adjusting the date of birth.
A source close to the situation clarified, “They were only trying to update some information like setting the date of birth, and Twitter noticed the breach and suspended the account. We complained, so it’s back.”
The EFCC, Nigeria’s premier anti-corruption agency, uses its X account to communicate with the public and provide updates on its activities. The temporary suspension caused a stir online, but the account is now fully operational, with all services restored.
